I have worked as an information architect/user experience consultant on a wide range of projects, most of which have involved working as part of a close knit design team, on others I have worked more independently, taking responsibility for most or all of the design related tasks.
Listed below are specific tasks that I have carried out in various user focused design roles:
- Auditing and logging current site content
- Meet with client focused business departments to discuss user types and user issues (including customer service phone teams)
- Aquire and absorb relevent user data from marketing and other departments
- Creation of personas (user scenarios) for the user centred design process
- Convertion of persona requirements into user tasks, and then on to proposed pages to satisfy user needs
- Conduct preferred user terminology analysis and then factoring the resulting phraseology into a robust information architecture and powerful search engine optimisation plan
- Production of wireframes, site maps, user flow diagrams
- Creation of, or input into visual designs
- Testing user interaction with web applications during lab based user testing
- Creation of moderator's guide for usability testing
- Production of a clickable prototype website for usability testing
- Management and moderation of user testing on client site
- Collating feedback from usability testing, suggesting, discussing and agreeing usability enhancements both on a page and site wide level, updating proposed information architecture
- Creation of information architecture designs for whole websites, individual sections of websites, tools within a website
- Choosing most relevent CMS templates and template modules for a design project
- Requesting and overseeing the development of refinements to template modules
- Oversee and request enhancements to new navigation designs
- Testing the functionality of re-designed web pages and CMS templates and requesting improvements/enhancements from technical teams
- Redesign core sales focused pages for enhanced usability
- Collaboration with US based colleagues during remote web based project meetings
- Writing web copy where required
- Creation of content matrix detailing the new pages as well as the old pages from which content can be utilised
- Participation in site re-design scoping workshops on client site and the compilation of resulting recommendations
- The creation of wireframes for Flash based movie players (Live video, pre-recorded video and UGC)
